When you call, Tirso answers, and he is the person who comes to your door.
Why is my dishwasher not draining?
Standing water after a cycle means it has nowhere to go. Often the cause is food packed into the filter at the base of the tub, a kinked drain hose, or a blocked drain pump.
Look at the filter first. If it lifts out by hand, rinse off the food you can see and set it back. Watch for broken glass. Then check the kitchen sink: if it is backed up, the dishwasher cannot empty into it.
If it stopped draining right after a new garbage disposal went in, the cause is often a knockout plug. A new disposal usually has one blocking the dishwasher inlet, and it has to be knocked out before water can pass. The plug sits inside the disposal, so do not reach in or use a tool. Tell whoever installed it, or mention it when you call.
Why are my dishes still dirty?
Gritty plates and cloudy glasses often mean the water is not reaching them. Spray arms clog with food or mineral buildup, the filter packs with debris, and a tall pan can block an arm.
Spin each spray arm by hand and check that it turns freely. Rinse the filter if it lifts out. Use fresh dishwasher detergent, and run the kitchen tap until the water is hot before you start a cycle.
If no water sprays at all, the detergent door stays shut, or you hear humming and nothing moves, stop and call. Those point to the pump or a valve, and neither is something to open up yourself.
Why is my dishwasher leaking?
Leaks usually start at the door seal, a hose connection, or the tub itself. A worn gasket lets water run out along the door, and a loose or cracked hose fitting drips underneath. Hand dish soap is another cause: its suds push water out the door, and dishwasher detergent is made not to foam.
Stop running the machine. Wipe up standing water so nobody slips, and keep the puddle away from any outlet. You can turn the dishwasher off at the breaker, but only if the panel is dry and you can reach it without stepping through water. If you cannot, leave it and call.
Why won't my dishwasher latch or close?
A dishwasher that will not start is often one that thinks its door is open. The latch and a small switch behind it tell the control the door is shut. A rack pushed back only partway, or a handle or utensil sticking out, can stop the door closing fully.
Push both racks all the way in and close the door with a normal push. Check that the child lock is off. Do not force the door.
If the latch looks broken, the door hangs crooked, or it clicks shut and nothing happens, call.
What does the visit cost?
A dishwasher visit is $75 for the diagnosis. If you approve the repair, the $75 is waived and the visit costs $0; if you say no, the $75 is all you pay. You get a flat-rate quote for the repair before any work begins, and there is no pressure to say yes. How our pricing works.
What should I tell you when I call?
If there is water on the floor, say so in your request.
Give us the brand and model number; on many dishwashers the label is on the edge of the door or inside the tub rim. Tell us what it is doing: not draining, leaking and from where, or leaving dishes dirty. And tell us when it started and what changed just before, such as a new disposal or a new detergent.
We can't quote a repair from a description over the phone, and we would rather say so than guess.
Which brands do you repair?
The brand is usually printed on the door or the control panel, so read it off when you call. We repair Samsung, LG, Whirlpool, GE, Frigidaire, Maytag and more; if yours is not on that list, call and ask.

FAQ
Why won't my dishwasher drain after a new garbage disposal went in?
The disposal may still have its knockout plug in place, which blocks the dishwasher's drain inlet. The plug is inside the disposal, so leave it alone and tell the installer or mention it when you call.
Can I keep using a dishwasher that is leaking?
No. Stop running it and wipe up the water. Turn it off at the breaker only if the panel is dry and you can reach it without standing in water.
Do I pay the $75 if you repair the dishwasher?
No. The $75 is waived if you approve the repair, so the visit costs $0. If you decline, the $75 covers the visit and nothing else is owed.
Can you tell me the repair price over the phone?
We can't quote a repair from a description. A flat-rate quote comes at your home, before any work starts.
